Persimmons!

They're here! Lovely persimmons are back in season, here in northern California. Go check your local farmer's market for these yummy treats.

The Hachiya variety is my favorite, and the most flavorful. But you have to wait until they ripen into a slightly mushy state to fully enjoy them. Don't eat them before they soften, or the tannins will be rather unpleasant. Also, make sure you don't eat the skin.

After a few days on the windowsill, these will be just right. I can hardly wait.
